The Art of Dry Aging and European Butchery: Elevating Meat Quality at Our Shop in Richmond BC

At our shop in Richmond BC, we are passionate about bringing our customers the best quality meat possible by using the best techniques available. Dry aging and traditional European butchery are two techniques that we value and have mastered to create truly exceptional meat products.

Dry aging allows us to enhance the natural flavour and tenderness of the meat by hanging it in a controlled environment for several weeks. This technique helps to break down the muscle tissue, creating a more tender and flavourful product. Our experienced butchers then use their expertise to create unique and flavourful cuts that are not commonly found in grocery stores.

Our dry-aged ribeye and tomahawk steaks are excellent examples of how these two techniques can work together to create a truly exceptional product. By selecting high-quality beef and dry aging it for several weeks, the natural flavours are enhanced, resulting in a more tender and flavourful cut. Our skilled butchers then use their expertise to create unique cuts, maximizing the flavour potential of each piece of meat.

At our shop, we use these techniques to create meat products that are perfect for any recipe. From classic beef stews to unique sausage creations, our meat products offer a depth of flavour that can elevate any dish. By incorporating our meat into your recipes, you can be sure that your dishes will stand out and leave a lasting impression.

In addition to providing high-quality meat products, our skilled butchers are also happy to offer advice and suggestions on the best cuts for your specific needs. Our commitment to quality and using the best techniques available makes our shop a top destination for meat lovers in Richmond BC.

We invite you to come to our shop to taste the difference that these techniques can make.

Newmans Fine Foods Grand Opening Event

RICHMOND GEM, SEAFAIR GOURMET MEATS, ANNOUNCES GRAND OPENING OF NEW LOCATION, NEWMANS FINE FOODS IN TSAWWASSEN SPRINGS.

Anything but traditional, Newmans Fine Foods is a gourmet butcher shop set to become a community staple and it’s bringing back the dwindling art of dry-aged meat. If you’ve had the good fortune of tasting dry-aged beef, then you know that it has remarkable depth and flavour. Not only does Newmans stand out from the typical plastic shrink-wrap found in grocery stores by offering dry-aged meats, but they are also a purveyor of locally sourced & sustainable fine food products.

Offering everything from artisanal cheeses, to pre-marinated and ready to cook products, to gourmet soups and sandwiches made fresh daily and more, Newmans Fine Foods has something to satisfy every taste bud. And it’s all from farmers and entrepreneurs right in our backyard.

Owned and operated by family of three, Melinda, John and son Heath Newman, this is now the family’s second location. First established as Seafair Gourmet Meats in West Richmond, the family has been providing local, quality meats to loyal customers for over three decades.

While the shop opened in November, the Newmans will be hosting their official grand opening celebration on Saturday, January 21st, 2017. Be sure to join in the festivities anytime between 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The day will be filled with prize giveaways, special promotions, a draw for two 28-day dry-aged steaks, and local product samples including:

We are thrilled to be expanding into Delta,” said Melinda Newman. “John and I are proud to have our son, Heath, join the family business, and keep the art of traditional custom cut European butchery alive for generations to come!
Our goal was to create a one-stop fine grocer with locally sourced and sustainable products from farmers and suppliers we know and trust,” said, Heath Newman. “As a neighbour, we want our customers to feel at home, and are dedicated to delivering the best quality and service.

The foundations of any festive feast

There are three foundations to any holiday feast: turkey, roast potatoes, and gravy. And, as most people have experienced firsthand, good gravy has the power to transform a meal. With Christmas coming quicker than you can say “ho, ho, ho”, you can get ahead of the weekend by prepping your gravy in advance of the big day.

And since we trust in the cooking mastery of Jamie Oliver (who doesn’t, right?), here is a fairly simple and delicious “Get Ahead” gravy recipe that will be the perfect accompaniment to your big meal. Click here for ingredients & instructions.

If you haven't already, be sure to place your special turkey order online, by phone, or by visiting us in-store. Orders must be in by Dec. 22nd!
